Food Cal AI

FAQ

How accurate are the calorie estimates?+

They are estimates. A photo cannot see the oil in the pan or weigh what is underneath the top layer, so treat the numbers as a good approximation rather than a measurement. The advantage is speed: logging every meal roughly tells you more about your week than logging three meals precisely and skipping the rest. For anything packaged, scan the barcode instead and you get the manufacturer's own figures.

Can I fix it when it gets a food wrong?+

Yes. Food names, calories and macros can all be edited by hand, and your corrected version is what the day's totals are built from.

Do I have to take a photo of everything?+

No. You can describe what you ate in your own words and the app works from that, which is the practical option when you have already finished the meal or you are somewhere photographing your plate would be odd.

Which nutrients does it track?+

Calories and the three macros — protein, fat and carbohydrates — for every entry, plus vitamins, minerals, ingredients, allergens and a health score in the detailed view of each meal.

How does the fasting tracker work?+

You pick a fasting window, start the timer, and the app shows the elapsed time and which stage of the fast you are in. It sits alongside your food log rather than in a separate app, so your eating window and what you ate in it are in the same place.

Is it on iPhone?+

Not right now — it is on Google Play for Android. If an iOS version returns, it will be linked here and on the store badges above.

Is it free?+

It is free to download and try. Some features are part of a paid plan; the current prices are shown in the app before you are charged anything.

Which languages does it support?+

More than 40. It follows your device language, and supports both light and dark mode.

Can it tell me what I should eat?+

It sets daily targets from the goals and details you enter during set-up, and it will point out patterns such as consistently low protein. That is not medical or dietary advice — see the note below.

Is any of this medical advice?+

No. Food Cal AI is a tracking tool, and its figures are estimates rather than laboratory values. Speak to a doctor or a registered dietitian before starting a diet, a fasting routine, or any significant change to how you eat — especially if you are pregnant, managing a condition such as diabetes, taking medication, or have a history of disordered eating.
